A mothers help is not normally a formally qualified nanny but is an experienced childcarer with references to show that they can care for children in one or more age groups. With the enlargement of the European Union on May 1st, many experienced Eastern European au pairs are taking work as full time livein Mothers Helps. There are also numerous trained teachers and midwives or nurses who wish to come to the UK as Mothers Helps. We also specialise in live in Mothers Helps from Native English speaking countries like Australia.
Our live in Mothers Help candidates are recruited and thoroughly vetted and police checked by our established overseas partners. As well as the police check in their home country, UK Criminal Record (CRB) checks are also done on every applicant on arrival in the UK. The vetted applicants' files are sent to us for matching with a UK employer. The net salary for a Mothers Help ranges from GBP 150-200 net per week depending on whether the position is part time or full time. Tax and national insurance costs will need to covered by the employer who may wish to use a company such as Nanny Tax, who offer a low cost monthly payroll service.
As foreign nationals their language skills may vary, though most have a good level of English. Unfortunately many Mothers Helps for whom English is not their native language do not have a driving licence. The duties which can be expected from a Mothers Help include childcare, light cooking, housekeeping and washing and ironing. If the Mothers Help is looking after young children, housework should be restricted and child-related only. Normal working hours would be a maximum of 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week with weekends free. A Mothers help can also babysit up to two nights per week.
We are also able to offer livein Housekeepers. A housekeeper's duties include cleaning, washing and ironing, shopping and cooking. Some element of childcare may also be included, for example supervision of school age children out of school hours or small amounts of babysitting for younger children.
To register for a live in Mothers Help and for details of our charges for Native and Non-native English Speaking live in Mothers Helps, or Livein Housekeepers please visit the Nanny side of the website at www.millennium-nannies.co.uk or click on the blue Millennum Nannies label on the bottom left hand side of this web page
Current Home Office advice is that nationals of 8 new EU Member States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary) must register as a Worker if they plan to work in the UK for more than one month and if their total earnings exceed the threshold for tax and national insurance. The threshold is currently around GBP 95 per week.
Registration is a formality. Once they have been registered and working legally in the UK for 12 months without a break, they will have full rights of employment. For an application form and more information telephone 08705 210 224 or visit www.workingintheuk.gov.uk Alternatively you may write to The Home Office Worker Registration Team, Moorfoot, Sheffield S1 4PQ.
